Celtic lost by about 30 to Porthcawl in the carruthers on a not flying green, thanks TD for that, one side of green on my rink non playable!!!. Early doors, green not had time to settle, still signs of airation holes which made it tricky
Re: Mid Vales Results 27/4 « Result #8 on May 1, 2013, 9:29am »
Celtic lost to Gilfach on a typical 1st day green, heavy and no lines, only Cliff Hanbury picked up a draw, played one short, choir away, im still with rugby.
Porthcawl sat in carruthers away, should be bit different green wise!!

Well done Ogmore on a solid start to the season. Again a very young team playing with two thirds both under 18yrs old. Thanks to the Kenfig Hill boy's for a game played in good spirits and dare i say decent weather as well. Good to see Dennis Adams back on the green after 5 seasons away.

Gilfach Goch 60 - 62.25 Bridgend
Richard Davies 13 - 17.25 (23) Paul Taylor Paul Jones 14 - 11.25 (15) Wyn Roberts Anthony Smith 15 - 17.25 (23) Jimmy Hoskins Jarrad Breen 18 - 16.50 (22) Leighton Greenslade
(Scores before the quarter in brackets)
Bridgend only had 12 players due to (Approx 12 players) either on Holidays or otherwise engaged in various different events, Which made this result even more unbelievable. Game was played in a great spirit with the green playing really well.

A pairs competition , four bowls per player, with the first stage comprising a “round robin” format, between eight groups of six teams, each team playing every other team in their section. Section matches to be of eight ends duration, or one hour. Matches to be started together on the signal from the controller. All competitors to be ready to start on the signal. Should any pair not be ready to start on the signal, the first end shall be conceded to their opponents, and four shots be forfeited. No trial ends. No visits to the head. Skips to cross over together. Signal to bring matches to a close will be given after 55 minutes, and the end in play will be completed, no end to be started after the signal. Dead ends to count 2 shots to the non offending pair, and will be counted as a played end. Any pair killing more than two ends in a match will forfeit that match, and 10 shots. On completion of each game, cards to be taken to controller. One and the same substitution will be allowed for each pair. Where only one named player is in the draw, the player who starts the tournament is deemed to be the other named player. If a pair is included in the draw, but withdraws, the committee reserves the right to replace that pair from the reserve list. One player only from the withdrawn pair, will be allowed to take part in the competition, but only as a replacement for an un named player in another combination. In the event of bad weather, the committee can restrict the number of ends played in each round.

Celtic lost all rinks up at a swampy maesteg, what a difference in 2 saturdays for pace, i played up the deep end and lost by 1 to alan thom, lost by about 20 overall, Mark it is the riverboat in out half, not the welfare, cu in the final
Re: Mid Vale League « Result #32 on Aug 1, 2012, 9:17am »
Dont think Maesteg and quick in same sentence, we are playing there on sat, more like okeefenookee, Mark you will be playing Celtic in semis of tudor walker, send Mervyn down, he loves it. Celtic beat taibach in emrys beer and play aberavon in final on friday.
Celtic beat Bridgend municipal by 35 all rinks up, also beat griffin park in the tudor walker but dont know whos lrft in our semi, Mark your in our half are you still in? Semi final of Emrys Beer on Monday vs Taibach Green yesterday was like glass, playing indoors only quicker, much better than chucking it hard due to rain, and managed to get a tan same time, lovely jubbly.

Dinas Powis were beaten at home yesterday by 2 shots by Barry Athletic in a very tight match. It was nip and tuck for the whole game with the lead changing hands several times and it all went down to the very last bowl of the match. 2 up and 2 down for each club.
